PRAYER MINISTRY

St. James is a prayerful community of believers.  In addition to our daily liturgies, we are encouraged to pray privately, and the Faith Formation Committee offers programs on prayer to help us grow spiritually. 

PRAYER CHAIN   We are blessed through the prayers of our St. James Prayer Chain, which anyone can join.  Parishioners call or email Laura Schwarz who sends the prayer request out to the Chain by phone call or email.  (Prayer Chain members are expected to respect the confidentiality of the prayer requests.)   For information, please contact Laura Schwarz at 614-1300 from 9 am to 8 pm or email her:  rschwarz3@cox.net.

PERPETUAL ADORATION  St. James has had 23-hours-a-day Perpetual Adoration for 30+ years.   Parishioners sign up for one hour per week of prayer, meditation, and spiritual reading in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the church’s Adoration Chapel.  Adorers are given a code to the chapel doors to insure their safety during night hours.   A list of those who have died or are in the hospital is available for intercessory prayer.   The cabinet in the foyer contains a sign-in sheet and a notebook for intentions.   A telephone is readily available and a bathroom is nearby.   If you have questions about our adoration program, please call Joyce Thomas, 390-2017. 

HOLY HOUR   On the Thursday before the First Friday each month, we come together at 7:00 p.m. for a Public Holy Hour where we pray a rosary, and have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (confessions sometimes are offered, too, if a priest is available).  Everyone is invited and welcome to come and worship the Lord.
