SILVER STREAKS

The Silver Streaks is a social club for seniors at St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann Parishes in Northwest Omaha.  Parishioners over 55 are invited to attend any of the Silver Streaks events.  Each month, the “Good News” includes up-to-date information on the activity, along with the phone number of a contact person.  We plan a variety of activities and are open to new ideas.  In 2006, activities included speakers on religious topics, Fontenelle Forest, osteoporosis, and managing your medications. 

Eating out is always fun, and in 2006 we have had lunch together for most of our meetings with catered meals which cost $6.50.  At our lunches, we often have entertainment such as Suzanne Perry with her Irish program on the dulcimer, barbershop music, and Bob Herink.  We usually have a bingo game or cards sometime during the year. At other times we meet in restaurants such as Charlie’s Seafood and Grill or we have had a picnic with other seniors. A fun outing this year was a trip to the Grande Olde Players Theatre to see “Auntie Mame”.  Occasionally, we rent a tour bus and visit sites of religious interest or entertainment.

Silver Streaks has a membership list with yearly dues of $5.00 which cover the cost of our entertainment.  Our president plans the events and welcomes suggestions.  There are currently two treasurers and a calling committee of eight who call with a reminder of the upcoming meeting and the menu, and to take your reservation.  Carrol Tuzzolino,  the current president of Silver Streaks, would be happy to answer any of your questions.   Call her at 571-1860.
