Friday of the First Week of Lent

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   Ezekiel 18:21-28
Responsorial Psalm:   Psalm 130:1-2, 3-4, 5-7a, 7bc-8
Gospel:   Matthew 5:20-26

There are only six weeks left to take care of business.   What business?   Well, today's readings say that if you want to approach the altar with your sacrifice you better go reconcile first.   I love billboards and over at Wenninghoffs, Paul and Amy have a billboard.   Last week the message said, "apologize already!"   Get it over with.  Make nice with the person you sinned against or who sinned against you.   Find a way to reconcile.   It's great to attend our communal reconciliation services in March, but even better to go reconcile before that.   Even if the other person has died or won't talk to you, there are ways to change your heart and put that into action.   Find a way to reconcile already!

Reminder:   Rice Bowls are in the Narthex with great suggestions for Lenten sacrifices.     Be sure to fill out the card at Mass this weekend and pick up your packet for the 2008 Year of growing in God's grace.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/021508.shtml  This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
