Monday after Epiphany

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   1 John 3: 22 - 4: 6
Responsorial Psalm:   Psalm 2: 7bc - 8, 10 - 12a
Gospel:   Matthew 4: 12 - 17, 23 - 25

The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light.   They don't move in the darkness, they don't make any progress, they don't have a goal.   But once there is a light, they can see where they are, where they may go, and what is around them.

The times I have been in spiritual darkness, I have found it hard to move out of it.   It has been the grace of God surprising me with light when I could not make a light myself or move in any direction.

Let us realize that we have seen a great light, the light of faith dwells within us and around us.   Then we may have hope during the times of darkness and death.

On a personal note: Many thanks to those who have written with prayer support for our family during this hard time.   Please continue the prayers.   Chris
