Tuesday after Epiphany

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:  1 John 4:7-10
Responsorial Psalm:  Psalm 72:1-2, 3-4, 7-8
Gospel:  Mark 6:34-44

What a challenge Jesus gave his disciples...give them food yourselves!   I wonder if it isn't any different than our challenge today.   Give them food ourselves!   We don't have to look far to see the physically hungry.   Each week our own St. Vincent de Paul committee responds to the needs of the hungry and poor.   In our city, the food banks always need food.   The Siena/Francis House, the Stephen Center, the Day House, the Open Door Mission and others need food and workers.   So when we see the poor on tv or read about it in the papers, Jesus says to us... give them food yourselves!   How will we respond?

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/010808.shtml This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
