Feast of the Baptism of the Lord

Reading and Reflection

Reading 1: Isaiah 42: 1 - 4,     6 - 7
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 20: 1 - 2, 3 - 4, 3, 9 - 10
Reading 2:  Acts 10: 34 - 38
Gospel:  Matthew 3: 13 - 17

Every day we have opportunities to become more and more baptized into the life and death of Jesus.   As we serve others, as we care for the environment, as we study the Word and apply it to our lives, along with every activity we participate in, we may bring Christ's life to the world.   We were baptized with the Spirit who is with us, at our side, as Isaiah prophesied.   We are anointed to be priestly people, given the light of God to carry and protect, and die and rise to new life.   And as we continue to be baptized into Christ, we know God is telling us, "these are my children with whom I am well pleased."
