Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Reading and Reflection

Reading I:   1 Samuel 1:9 - 20
Responsorial Psalm:  1 Samuel 2: 1, 4 - 5, 6 - 7, 8abcd
Gospel:   Mark 1:21 - 28

True teaching from God can amaze, astonish, and change our lives.   It can thwart evil.   Who are the teachers in our lives?   Certainly we immediately think of the holy men and women who lead our faith lives.   But also, we should think of the wise people of faith that we know who are not ordained or religious.   The Spirit of God has come to us all at our Baptism and Confirmation.   We are all empowered to be prophet and teacher for one another.   By opening ourselves to the Spirit we open ourselves to be used by God.    Let us take time today to thank God for the teaching we receive and commit ourselves to be God's worker.

The readings can be accessed at  http://www.usccb.org/nab/011508.shtml This is an easy click to the daily readings.  Use the back button on your browser to return to the reflection.    We continue to build this ministry and pray for parishioners to contribute monthly.
