About Overflow Youth Ministry

Overflow Youth Ministry is a combined effort by both St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann parishes to provide faith-building experiences for teens in the parishes.  Overflow Youth Ministry includes the Overflow High School Youth Group, Middle School Overflow (grades 6-8), Retreats and Conferences.

Overflow High School Youth Group

Meets every other Sunday at St. Elizabeth Ann from 6:30 - 9pm.  Join us to encounter Christ together and apply the Gospel to our lives.  Live chastity, obedience, and generosity in a world that needs your virtue!

Each fall and spring, teens head off-site for a retreat led by youth ministry volunteers from the parish. These retreats provide an opportunity to grow closer to God through prayer, the Sacraments, praise and worship, and fun activities.  Our next retreat (March 2019) will include a two day retreat for all high school teens.  Come to any Overflow night for information on these special retreat days.

Each year, teens have the opportunity to join other thousands of Catholic teens from around the country at the Steubenville Youth Conference.  This year's Steubenville Conference will take place in Springfield, MO on July 19-21st, 2019.  More information to come. Fundraising at Fish Fries as well as scholarships opportunities are available to those who need financial assistance. Open to all Freshmen-Seniors.  For information on how to sign up for these thrilling and memorable events, contact Sam Jizba.

Meets at the St. James Parish Center from 6:00pm-8:00pm unless otherwise noted.  See the 2018 calendar for dates and events We will join other Middle School students from parishes around Omaha on March 3rd at the Amazing Pizza Machine, this event is for all 7th and 8th graders. Information to come in early February for this fun event!

We will be having a one day retreat for all students grades 6-8. The retreat is called "Make or Break" and the goal of this retreat is to move participants from “lukewarm” to a deeper, more active faith commitment in four key areas of their lives: personal prayer, chastity, public worship (Liturgy of the Eucharist) and living in the world. Registration forms can be found in the documents portion of this page, and can be turned in at the St. James Parish office.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in faith, and in purity.”
~ 1 Timothy 4:12

Fundraising Overflow has several fund raising activities which help send youth and leaders to Conferences and Retreats throughout the year.  These fundraisers include selling desserts and pop at fish fries

Other activities have included a progressive dinner, helping build the Little Town of Bethlehem, and retreats!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? We welcome new members to join any group at any time.  If you have questions, wish to volunteer, or want to be contacted about one of these groups, please call.  Adults are encouraged and welcome to join in this ministry as spiritual leaders and role models for the teens.
