St. Vincent de Paul Society

St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank all those who helped support our cause in 2018. We helped over 650 families with financial needs (rent & utilities), prescriptions, furniture and food. We delivered Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to 15 families and we gave some of these families gift cards so they could buy gifts for their children. None of this would have been possible without your help. Primary assistance recipients reside within our church boundaries.

Please note that our SVDP store in Benson will be closing, but the good news is that it will reopen in March 2019 next to Bakers at 90 & Fort. We are excited that the store will be closer! Items we no longer need in our own homes can be easily and conveniently donated to the store! We will no longer need to go downtown to donate! If interested, we would love to have help getting the new store ready! You can help sort and/or display items. Volunteer as often as you would like, once a week or once a month – whatever works best with your schedule. Volunteers save us money! In addition to not having to pay an employee, the store gives back a percentage to our St. James SVDP chapter, which helps those who call us for assistance. If you would like to volunteer, please call 402-341-1688 or call the SVDP line at St. James to leave your contact information.

Once again, thanks to all those who supported us, especially the parishioners of St. James, members of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Daughters and those who supported our pantry. A special thanks goes to the members of the St. James Chapter of SVDP who gave of their time to visit these families. Please watch the Good News! for upcoming 2019 events!
