The 2024 renovations of the St. James Parish Center are rooted in a decision made by parishioners back in the late 1980s—to build a parish center rather than a new church. With that choice, they dedicated space for the community to gather in faith, friendship, and family. Their vision was to create a place where parishioners could support one another in times of need and provide a hub for parish life and activities.
The renovation affirms those goals in providing a new look for the parish center. But the plans went beyond cosmetic when connecting to the past and affirming those earlier hopes and dreams, meeting one of the specific “numbers” St. James parishioners had on their “wish list” for the new parish center – added space that boosts the tabled seating capacity to 380, more than adequate for almost all functions – meetings, education sessions, receptions.
One thing is certain, parishioners are honoring their predecessors at St. James in affirming their decisions and ideas about the importance of a parish center. The Parish Center remains an important focal point of the parish, and will continue to provide a modern gathering space for the parish community.
