Growing in God’s Grace + Responding gratefully to His gifts

The Door of Worship

Worship, through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, is the source and summit of our Christian faith. By attending Mass each weekend, we gather as a community of faith—not out of mere obligation but out of love for Jesus. Worship leads to Service, Spiritual Growth and Treasure—and they all lead back to Worship.

The Door of Spiritual Growth

Our faith journey begins with an encounter with Jesus Christ and is constantly in motion. Our ability to open this door helps determine whether we are moving closer to God or falling away from Him.

The Door of Treasure

Commit to give back in gratitude to God a portion of the financial gifts He has given to us. St. James encourages tithing, which involves returning the first 10% of gross income to the Lord—5% to the parish, 1% to the archdiocese and 4% to other charities. This requires a certain amount of trust and openness to God’s plan in our lives.

The Door of Service

Commit to spending at least one hour per week helping others at St. James or in the community. This is a call to give of our very selves. This requires openness and the ability to see Christ in others. The parish Ministry and Talent Resource Directory offers dozens of ways to be of service.
